If Not Now, When?

Yesterday, the Supreme Court had a chance to do its job—and it blinked.

With the stroke of inaction, SCOTUS allowed unconstitutional laws to stand—laws that blatantly violate the Second Amendment by banning commonly owned firearms and standard-capacity magazines used by millions of law-abiding Americans.

The Court didn’t rule against us—they refused to rule at all.
And in doing so, they sided with cowardice.

This wasn’t a murky case.
This wasn’t a fringe challenge.
This was about the AR-15—the most popular rifle in America.
This was about 10+ round magazines, which are standard in nearly every modern firearm.
And this was about states like Maryland and Rhode Island deciding they can rewrite the Constitution on a whim—and face no consequences.

The Court Failed the Republic

SCOTUS had the opportunity to make it clear: rights are not regional.
The Second Amendment doesn’t mean one thing in Texas and something else in New York.
But by refusing to hear the challenges, the Court let lower courts become gatekeepers of freedom.

It’s not neutrality—it’s negligence.
And it sends a chilling message to the American people:
You’re on your own.
And today, we’re watching the last guardrails of justice cave to political pressure.

Justices Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch sounded the alarm. Thomas even said outright that the Court shouldn’t delay in deciding whether the government can ban the most popular rifle in America. And yet, the rest of the Court shrugged.

Let that sink in.

The highest court in the land just refused to say whether the government can ban the most commonly owned rifle in the country.

If that’s not a betrayal of oath and Constitution, what is?

The Silence Is Deafening

Justice Kavanaugh wrote separately—not to dissent, but to suggest the Court might deal with the issue eventually. That’s not courage. That’s kicking the can down the road while rights continue to be violated in real time. Americans don’t need judicial tea leaves—they need clarity.

If not now, when?
If not on this case, then what exactly does the Second Amendment even protect anymore?

And where was Justice Amy Coney Barrett?

Nowhere.

No dissent. No opinion. No defense of the Constitution she swore to uphold.
The same justice once praised for her originalist leanings stood silent as states enforce laws that defy both the text and spirit of the Second Amendment.

Three justices stood up: Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch.
The others? Either stayed quiet or chose political caution over principle.

We’ve come to expect this kind of evasion from Sotomayor, Kagan, Jackson, and even Roberts, who long ago abandoned any pretense of constitutional backbone.

But Justice Barrett?
Her silence on the Second Amendment has been nothing short of disappointing.
She was touted as an originalist—someone who would defend the Constitution as written.
Instead, when the time came to take a stand, she sat it out.

“This isn’t the first time Barrett has gone silent when the Second Amendment needed a voice. Time and again since Bruen, she’s declined to dissent or engage—even when other originalist justices made it clear the issue demanded attention. Her silence is starting to sound like a pattern.”

Millions of law-abiding gun owners are crying out.
Let’s pray their voices don’t fade into silence.

Do Your Job

Millions of Americans show up every day.
We do our jobs.
We honor our word.
We don’t get to cherry-pick which parts of our duty are comfortable.
We don’t get to pass the buck or hide behind silence.

And we sure as hell don’t get to interpret the employee handbook however we see fit just because the pressure’s on.

The Constitution isn’t a suggestion.
It’s not a document to be “reimagined.”
It’s the binding contract between the people and the government—and you swore to uphold it.

We’re held accountable—and we expect the same from the people who swear an oath to uphold the Constitution.

The Supreme Court is not supposed to be a political shield.
It’s supposed to be a constitutional sword—defending liberty when all other branches fail.

And right now, you’re failing us.

Do your job.
Not when it’s convenient.
Not when the headlines cool off.
Now.

Because if you won’t stand between the people and tyranny,
then don’t be surprised when the people do it themselves.
